It had been mothballed really well (engine & gearbox filled with oil all joints and moveing parts covered with grease dry packs and mouse traps inside etc). The chassis was and still is the orignal and in very good condition with no repairs. The interior was striped and under the seats was found a lot of the orignal history.

Old mot's, service receipts, parts bills etc. Sll good information on its history. The car was back on the road and turning heads by June/July 2007. It's not concourse condition but has done well at some local classic car shows, winning best in show at one in 2008. It still gets used as it should on weekends and holidays and has been to France on our annual a few times. The engine has just been rebuilt for the first time at 66244 miles so it will now run on unleaded fuel. I only striped and cleaned it originally.

The interior has been retrimed in leather to match the original oatmeal trim and the wheels replaced with new lotus pattern alloys. It is at present British Racing Green (as can be seen from enclosed photo) but was originally white, it has covered approximately 70,000 miles. • It is in great condition and is a real head turner, especially when it ‘pops’ on deceleration.

After owning it for over a year has caused me little grief (famous last words!). Original Lotus rims. Purchased this particular vehicle from Lismore, NSW in February 2005. The seller had owned the car for approximately 4 years, and during this time had re-uphostered the interior. The car all over was in fairly good condition.

He had purchased the car from a friend in Singapore, where the car had been for many years. When in Singapore the car was repainted red, originally it had been black with gold pin stripes.

Due to the humidity in Singapore, the car was fitted with an air-conditioner, but the heater was removed. Since owning the car I have redone all the suspension, refitted the heater, fitted stainless steel water pipes to the radiator, replaced front and back wheel bearings, had the head re-conditioned, hardened valves and seats, so I do not have to put additives in to the fuel. • Original color: L07 - Lotus Yellow • Condition: • Current color: Yellow • In 1974 I owned an Lotus Europa Special (I bought it new by the Lotus Dealer Dauwe in Ghent Belgium), the chassis nr ended with 1366Q, the colour was yellow. • I had it for 18 months and I drove it for 40000 km (25000 miles), because I was young (23 years) I drove it rather fast. • The car was present at my wedding (see picture) and then we made a honeymoon trip with the car to the south of France. • But then came our first child and I decided to sell the car (I still regret that foolish act, not the child but selling the Lotus) • I also sold the car because of my fast driving the engine was getting used and began to use oil, I also had got trouble with the rear suspension (bearings) and I then didn't have the money to get it fixed, as a young married couple we had other needs. • The car was sold in 1975 to a Dutch, and I had never saw or heard about it again.

I am coating the exterior with West 105 epoxy.

I made new suspension parts, new A-arms with rod ends to adjust camber/castor and lower rear links with rod ends. Added a rear anti-roll bar which had to be cut and new mounts made even though it was supposed to fit. Interior is getting cherrywood trim with new carpet and seat covers.

My second Lotus.

More details on purchase.• This car has had a full body lift off, and been stripped of 2 previous paint jobs. Frame has been repaired in a few areas where rust was a problem ( pedal bolt down area) and battery area. Frame was sand blasted, and coated with Chassis paint. Engine has been rebuilt. With new valves. New guides, new pistons (.050) over, all new bearings, rods, crank & cam. Clutch and Pressuer plate.

Carburators were not salvagable and replaced with Stromberg 1.75SU found on E-bay. Wheels were soruces on E-bay and are Appliance type 7' wide rear and 6' fronts. Tires are 205-60R13 rears and 175-70R13 front, tires are like new. Interior has been completely redbuilt, seat frames are from another Europa and repaired and totally recovered.

Special features - no brake booster cylinders, VW master cylinder, and brakes work great. Notice no door handles, but doors are manual - stick your arm in and open from inside ( sorta like an old Austin Healey) hidden switch to lower the window. Adjustable from sway bar. New Spax shocks and adjustable springs.

Front A-arms are adjustable. Rear arms are adjustable and new.• I am selling this because I am too old and too fat to get in enjoy the drive. Once in, it is a very confortable driving position. It is also a Lotus, and that means a long term comittment. These cars are fragile and require work on a regular basis. There were several mistakes made on this rebuild, that could have eliminated some of these, I will be happy to provide these if interested. No Heater blower - would you really drive this in the winter?
