Hitachi Ax M137 Manual Transfer
Please help if you can! Proficy Machine Edition 8 Crack. I have just bought one of these - initially I got it going OK although it did not retain the programmed channels after I had set them. Something I thought just needed further concentration and I would try again.
However, it now won't play DAB (or FM) for longer than about 30 secs without the display going blank and a 'thump thump' sound coming thru the speakers. It won't let me scan for stations either before this happens. Can anyone give any advice on what I can do or look for, to rectify this problem please? I only picked the set up this afternoon and brought it home to install it.
I did put the unit next to the fridge freezer. Could this have damaged something due to the magnetic field or something? The CD works perfectly by the way! Hope someone can help to save a long trip back to Curry's in the morning.
Bought the same unit today (Boxing day) at Currys, and it all worked great for ooooh 15 minutes, before the DAB reception started to choke, and then expire completely. It then lost all the FM memories, just before the whole audio amplification failed.
The DVD and CD still play etc, but they ain't much use with subtitles only - especially on the CD's! Suppose I'll see you all back at the store, but it's a real pity cos this one had a lot going for it, good spec, reasonable price and not bad looking either.

Well, I returned my unit to Curry's who were not the slightest bit interested in the fact that there are several of us having the same problem, and they replaced the unit with another brand new set - which had exactly the same problems. I went for the worst case scenario, and set the DAB reception up to a channel with speech only (in order to establish the earthy hum was present), then set the volume to level 3, which is where it appeared to be humming the worst, and left it like that for 15 minutes - guess what? - the main audio amplifier failed again; no scanning of DAB or FM possible,; no display, but the DVD and CD's still function without sound!! I have now returned the unit for a full refund (£200), and bought the AX-M71 for £75, which has the same 2x50watt rms amplification, sounds!!! And looks the same, has RDS FM/AM, but does not play DVD's, has no USB input nor DAB, and though it has the same equaliser, bass and loudness functions, it does not give a graphic display on the amp - just an iluminated 'HITACHI'.
But with the saving, I can buy a DAB stand alone unit for £30 (the AX-M71 also has 2 aux inputs, for my existing DVD audio, and DAB or SKY). It will play CD/CDR/CDRW/MP3, so I can either use MP3 discs, or use a lead from the 3.5mm headset jack of my MP3 player to two phono plugs for one of the aux inputs. I know all this is a compromise, but I do like the Hitachi kit and another benefit is that it is not now tied up to my main TV room - I just hope it remains reliable. Hitachi UK refused to have anything to do with the problems I had, and stated that Currys/Dixons have imported these units directly and that they will not be supporting the audio products. A strange state of affairs when it has their brand name all over it!

Hehe I have one of these set up now, a fixed one off of Ebay. He sold it to me as new but it arrived in bad condition, marked, and without the bloomin control cable! I started a dispute, got a refund and waited for him to pick it up as we agreed. But he never did. A month and a bit later i've taken it back home, found an old PC cable that functions perfectly as a control cable, and it's now up and running with no problems whatsoever. It's interesting to note that the DAB playback actually sounds flatter than the FM radio playback. So I left it on FM for now as the reception with the supplied aerial is very good.
DVD playback is also just as good as my old DVD player, and the fact it plays DivX is a nice bonus. The remote control is a bleedin pain in the arse though and very poorly designed. It has a slim, small profile yet output is surprisingly powerful and sound quality is very clear compared to my old Hi-Fi. The clock LED on the front is a tad annoyingly bright even on the dimmest setting when i'm sleeping at night but hey, I can live with it. All-in-all it's doing exactly what I wanted it to do ie: playing the odd DVD, decent radio, and waking me up in the morning to Radio 1. Hello, I hope you don't mind if I rant a little?
I've had my AX-M137 since October 2006, it's therefore 3 months out of warranty. It had been going like a dream until I turned it on yesterday morning. Five seconds of radio then a dull thumping sound. Now it's gone. It just says 'FM Radio' but I can't tune or do anything with it.
Phoned the Curry's 'Out Of Warranty' repair line. Not interested because no parts are available. Phoned Hitachi directly.
They're not interested because Curry's can't do anything. I hung up on the guy. I understand that I have to pay, but it's shocking that an excellent hifi that's only 15 months old seems totally redundant? Tony, I'll be in touch.
I've had the Hitachi AX-M137 set up since November, use it everyday with no problems at all. Bought it off e-bay (Bizitshop.com), the seller promised he had fixed the TWO known problems with this model (sold only by Dixons and Curry's).
Problem one was something about a 'heat sink' that needed a larger rated component and the second prob the buzzing (can't remember if he specified the fix). Apparently the heat sink causes the whole system to lose sound - the DAB causes overheating. Both problems seem to have been fixed on my system. Pro's: it sounds good (amazing 50 watts per channel), it looks good, finds the time itself (how does it do that?). £80 for a brand new 100 watt system (+£10 pp) - superb. Against: as with all DVD players takes a while to read a CD. Occasionally loses DAB signal (rare).
FM gives a fuller sound, but DAB is more enticing. I haven't tried USB but a note with instructions says to try Aux if USB doesn't do what you want.
